The LEPC Committee's Partnership Program enables private companies to give back to the community by donating funds to support the County's three hazardous materials teams – MABAS Division 2 HazMat Team, MABAS Division 13 HazMat Team, and the Kane County Bomb and Explosives Team.
Kane County LEPC does not charge filing fees to the local chemical facilities. Through the generous donations of the facilities that file with us, we are able to support the LEPC which allows the LEPC to provide mini-grants to the three hazmat teams. Fifty percent of the funds that we receive each year are given to those mini-grants. The teams are able to use the grants for training, training aids, and equipment. The training and equipment enables the teams to better respond to the needs of the businesses and residents of the county. Over the years, the LEPC has been saving the other fifty percent of funds with the goal of hiring a company to produce a Hazardous Material Commodity Flow Study. In the past, the LEPC has conducted smaller studies of gathering data but the goal is to produce a more in-depth and professional commodity flow study.
At the meeting in May, the LEPC recognized the facilities that have participated annually, with high donors receiving plaques or awards based on their level of participation.
